Terms and refunds
One payment. Five Macs. Fourteen days to change your mind.
These are the terms for using Breaking Pen and for the license you buy. They are short because the product is simple.
The trial
Breaking Pen is free for seven days from the first launch on a Mac. Every action and every model is available during the trial. When the seven days end, the app pauses and asks for a license key. Nothing is deleted.
The license
- A license is a one-time purchase of USD 19.99, plus any tax that applies where you live. It is not a subscription and there is no renewal.
- One license key activates Breaking Pen on up to five Macs that you own or use. Each activation takes a seat. You free a seat from Settings ▸ License on that Mac, or by writing to support if the Mac is gone.
- The license includes every future update of Breaking Pen, for as long as the app is published.
- The license is for one person. Sharing a key publicly, reselling it, or using it to run the app for other people is not allowed, and such a key may be revoked.
Refunds
If Breaking Pen is not for you, email support@breakingpen.com within 14 days of purchase from the address you bought with, and you get a full refund. No questions. After a refund the key stops working. Refunds are paid by Dodo Payments to the original payment method, usually within five to ten business days.
Purchases and tax
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record. It runs the checkout, collects tax where required, issues the invoice, and delivers the license key by email. Its terms of service apply to the payment itself.
What the app does, and does not do
Breaking Pen rewrites text with a language model that runs on your Mac. A model can make mistakes. Read the result before you send it. Every change shows a Revert button, and you can turn on a preview in Settings so that nothing changes until you press Replace.
The app needs a Mac with Apple Silicon on macOS 14 or later, about 1 GB of disk for the model, and the Accessibility permission. It is provided as is, without a warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the license.
Updates
The app checks for updates once a day and offers them to you. You can turn the check off in Settings. An update may change or remove a feature; a change that matters is named in the release notes.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version appears on this page with a new date. A license you already bought keeps the refund period and the seat count that applied when you bought it.
